Our guest blogger for this installment of In the Limelight is Fred Rothschild of The Rothschild Insurance Group. A longtime Skokie resident, Fred has been in the insurance business for more than 50 years.
How long have you been doing business in town?
I have been doing business in Skokie for 40 years.
What attracted you to the line of work you’re in and how did you get started?
I started doing income tax work part-time and some of my clients had no health insurance. I would recommend them to a friend of mine in the insurance business. After a while, I made the decision to go into the insurance business myself.
What is the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Getting insurance for clients with serious medical problems can be difficult. We represent more than 50 insurance companies, so we can almost always find someone to handle risk.
What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
The most satisfying part of my job is listening to a client and helping them find insurance coverage. I also like getting referrals from satisfied customers.
How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
We answer ALL inquiries within 24 hours.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Ask a lot of questions. Use your two ears more than your one mouth.

What role has the Chamber played in your business development plan?
The Chamber has been wonderful for 20 + years. I attend most programs where I meet great people, many of whom become clients.
